The crowd goes wild and for a second it seems like I can still win even with the odds stacked against me. So I keep playing- taking shots when I can but mostly defending myself with every ounce of energy I have left. There's no end to this game in sight, I have no idea what quarter or half or inning I'm in, not really sure what game it is or what the rules are but I’m piecing it together as I go along.

The crowd is full of faces and voices I know well, some have been there since I first got thrown on the field. New ones have joined, maybe to watch the chaos at first but staying now  because they fell in love with the underdog.

There’s an interesting factor to playing, to fighting, to struggling.

There's an appeal in watching others fight their hardest. Some love to cheer while others are in it to watch the tormented soul get bloody again and again.

I can  hear the mix of  cheers and boos, giving me conflicting feelings about my progress. Am I succeeding? Have I learned the trick to this living thing? Nope, but the cheers continue stronger and stronger as I go.

That’s how I stay motivated-

to please those cheering &

to piss off those who boo.
